Experience
Shooting for an official music video for the first time was quite an experience in itself. I cannot exactly say that all went smoothly because there were problems that had to be dealt with. Yet I can proudly exclaim that we worked through it and the results were not disappointing!
We learned a lot that day; from directing the artists to explaining every tiny bit to repeating over and over again and keeping the frustration in check, keeping synergy and compatibility, handling the camera etc
Strengths
- Control of lighting, exactly as we wanted it to be.
- Co operative actors.
- Mise en scene as required.
- Indoor location; no unnecessary interruptions.
-Shot at my own house; no extra money was spent on loction renting.
- Understanding between team members; no hassle.
- 3/4 band members are actually musicians therefore less explaining.
- friends volunteering to help; no running around wasting time.
Weaknesses
- Weak facial expressions in some scenes and many people look into the camera.
- Load shedding; the electricity went off more than one time during the shoot.
- Time constraints; many cast members had to leave and some scenes from the narrative were shot hastily.
- Not all of the people were dancing or looking like they were at a party.
- The drummer is hidden in most scenes and the individual shots of the drummer were not useable.
-We had to change the ending of the narrative as we never got the final shot.
